In Case of Emergency
If someone equipped with a KIP is in distress
- Call rescue services.
- Tell them the person owns a KIP (KIP beacon).
- Give them the last 4 digits of the KIP's serial number.
The serial number is printed on the sticker on the back of the device. You will also find it in the SOS message you will receive by SMS and in the shared location portal you use to follow your loved one. Rescue services use it to identify and locate the specific beacon.
In France and the rest of the EU
The emergency number is 112.
Why this works even without network coverage
KIP beacons are built to stay locatable by rescue teams even in areas with no LoRa, Sigfox, or mobile network coverage, thanks to the beacon's direction-finding technology (see What is KIP?). Providing the last 4 digits of the serial number lets rescuers confirm they've found the right device.
